2027 BOMA Top 100 Who Lead Nomination Guidelines & Frequently Asked Questions

Nominees must be at least 18 years old and meet at least one of these requirements:

• Live in Mississippi.
• Work in Mississippi.
• Demonstrate meaningful leadership, service, or impact benefiting Mississippi communities during 2026.

Nominations are open to individual men, individual women, and legally married husband and wife couples across professions, industries, ministries, organizations, and areas of community service.

A couple nomination is limited to one legally married husband-and-wife team, consisting of one man and one woman. Both spouses must meet the eligibility requirements. An approved couple occupies two positions in the Top 100: one in the Top 50 Men and one in the Top 50 Women.

You may nominate yourself, another eligible individual, or an eligible husband-and-wife couple.

 Complete the nomination form with your contact information and the nominee’s name, contact information, city and county, and professional or community role. Professional credentials are optional. For husband and wife nominations, provide each spouse’s information separately.

In 150 words or fewer, answer:

“What did this nominee or husband and wife couple lead, accomplish, influence, or improve during 2026?”

Describe specific actions, accomplishments, people served, and results. Explain how the nominee’s leadership benefited Mississippi.

Supporting documents, photographs, biographies, and additional materials are not required with the initial nomination. These will be requested through the Nomination Acceptance Form when applicable.

Submit complete and accurate information by October 31, 2026, at 10:00 p.m. Central Time.

Eligible nominations are reviewed using a consistent 100-point evaluation rubric:

• Leadership and Initiative: 25 points
• Accomplishments and Measurable Impact During 2026: 30 points
• Benefit to Mississippi: 20 points
• Reach, Influence, and Collaboration: 15 points
• Strength and Relevance of the Nomination: 10 points

Reviewers consider what the nominee accomplished, the difference their work made, and how clearly the nomination explains that impact. A title, popularity, or the number of nominations received does not determine selection.

A minimum score of 70 points is required for selection consideration. Meeting that score does not guarantee recognition. Final selections are subject to verification, available positions, and Executive Committee approval.

Selected nominees will be contacted by email, telephone, or both and asked to complete the Nomination Acceptance Form within five business days of notification.

 Individuals, businesses, churches, and organizations may request to sponsor an eligible nominee. Sponsorship is optional and is not required to submit a nomination.

Individual sponsorship levels are $500, $750, and $1,000. Husband and wife couple sponsorship levels are $1,000 and $1,500. The sponsor pays the approved sponsorship amount on behalf of the nominee.

Sponsored honorees must meet the eligibility requirements, receive a minimum evaluation score of 70 points, complete the acceptance process, and receive Executive Committee approval. A sponsorship request does not guarantee selection, and sponsorship does not increase a nominee’s evaluation score.

Approved sponsored honorees count within the Top 100 and receive the same honoree recognition as those selected through the merit review process. A maximum of 20 positions may be reserved for sponsored honorees. A husband and wife couple uses two positions.

Sponsors may request public acknowledgment, subject to BOMA’s approval and the selected sponsorship arrangements.

Can I nominate myself?
Yes. Self-nominations are welcome and receive the same review as other nominations.

Can I nominate more than one person?
Yes. Submit a separate form for each individual or husband-and-wife couple.

Do multiple nominations improve someone’s chances?
No. Duplicate nominations do not increase a nominee’s score or guarantee selection. BOMA may combine relevant information into one review record.

Can I nominate someone who lives outside Mississippi?
Yes, if the nominee works in Mississippi or demonstrates meaningful leadership, service, or impact benefiting Mississippi communities during 2026.

Does a couple count as one or two honorees?
A husband and wife couple is evaluated as one nomination but occupies two positions, one within the Top 50 Men and one within the Top 50 Women.

Is sponsorship required?
No. Sponsorship is optional. Every nominee must meet the applicable eligibility and review requirements.

Does a Top 100 nomination include Mississippi Hall of Fame consideration?
No. The Mississippi Hall of Fame has a separate application and approval process. The Nomination Acceptance Form will offer the option to request that application. Choosing yes or no will not affect Top 100 selection.

Will I need to provide supporting information?
Additional information may be requested for verification. Selected nominees will provide their biography, photograph, and other required materials through the Nomination Acceptance Form.
